FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Don't Be Fooled by Biohazard Containment

SANYO MSE Centrifuge Swing-Out Rotor Buckets Designed with "POSITIVE" Aerosol Containment Covers!

Dateline: Palisades Park, N.J. -- ISTPC today announced that SANYO MSE centrifuges (1000e, Centaur 2, M2000 series, 3000 series and our NEW Harrier series centrifuges) with the proper swing-out rotor buckets meet or exceed the requirements of OSHA Regulation 29 CFR Part 1910.1030. The regulation states: protecting all employees from "...occupational exposures to blood and other potentially infectious materials..."These requirements mandate that:"....physical containment devices, such as...centrifuge safety cups, sealed centrifuge rotors,...shall be used for all activities with infectious materials that pose a threat of exposure to droplets, splashes, spills, or aerosols."

What Does This Mean? For the most part, many end users in hundreds or even thousands of locations are using fixed angle or swing-out rotors that are opened bucket systems (without any cover or non-aerosol caps). There are many centrifuge manufactures which sell rotor buckets with a snap-on cap, caps that simply sit on the bucket or even a quick-turn cap which only prevents the cap from coming off during centrifugation. Some Manufactures, Sales Reps and Manufacturers' Representative Groups will go as far as selling you or claiming that these are aerosol containment systems.

ISTCP,INC and SANYO believe that true aerosol containment comes from "POSITIVE" containment covers. Our covers are manufactured so that the cover is screwed into place against an "O-RING" making it a "POSITIVE" seal. If, tube breakage occurs during the centrifugation process all infectious materials, pathogens or body fluids are absolutely contained.

We took it a lot further for the global market gaining acceptance by testing and approved for use by PORTON DOWN a European Compliance. When selecting SANYO MSE centrifuges rest assure that our swing-out rotor buckets come, at NO additional cost, with "POSITIVE" aerosol containment covers.
